Polypropylene Sediment Filter Cartridge

Sediment filtration is an important first stage in a multi-stage whole house water filtration system.

The Polypropylene Sediment Filter Cartridge is designed to capture particulate matter from the incoming water supply before it reaches carbon, heavy metal or other specialty filtration cartridges.

Its three-layer depth-filtration structure captures particles throughout the filter media rather than only on the outer surface, helping provide high contaminant-holding capacity and longer service life. 

Manufactured from 100% polypropylene, the cartridge uses fine melt-blown fibre technology and a thermally bonded construction with no glues, binders or adhesives.

The Polypropylene Sediment Filter Cartridge is designed primarily for use as Stage 1 in a multi-stage whole house filtration system.

Installing sediment filtration first helps capture dirt and particulate matter before water reaches the more specialised cartridges installed after it.

This can help protect downstream filters such as:

The Polypropylene Sediment Filter Cartridge can be used as sediment pre-filtration for suitable:

• Town water

• Tank water

• Rainwater

• Bore water

The correct filtration setup should always be selected according to the condition and quality of the incoming water supply.

Tank, rainwater and bore-water applications may require additional treatment or disinfection depending on the water quality.

The cartridge is independently tested and certified for material safety and structural integrity for use in drinking-water systems under NSF 42 and CFR Title 21 requirements.

A filter's micron rating indicates the approximate particle size the filtration media is designed to target.

A 1 micron sediment cartridge provides finer particulate filtration than higher-rated sediment cartridges such as 5, 10 or 20 micron filters.

However, micron rating alone does not determine overall cartridge performance or filter life.

Incoming water quality, sediment levels, water usage and flow rate can all influence filtration performance.

The Polypropylene Sediment Filter Cartridge should be replaced every 12 months to help maintain water flow and overall filtration performance.

Actual cartridge life can vary depending on:

• Incoming water quality

• Sediment levels

• Water usage

• Flow rate

• Cartridge size

• Overall filtration system configuration

Water supplies containing higher sediment levels may require the cartridge to be replaced earlier.

Replacing the sediment cartridge as required also helps protect the carbon and specialty filtration cartridges installed after it.
