Matrikx CTO Carbon Block Filter Cartridge

MATRIKX has developed its CTO carbon block range using high-performance activated carbon technology designed to provide strong adsorption capacity while maintaining suitable water flow.

The cartridge uses 100% coconut shell activated carbon, a renewable carbon source, and provides 5 micron nominal filtration to help reduce sand, rust and sediment while also targeting chlorine, chloramine, PFAS and selected chemical contaminants. 

The Matrikx CTO is suitable for compatible residential, commercial and high-flow filtration housings and can be used as part of a multi-stage whole house filtration setup.

Choose from two Matrikx CTO Carbon Block Filter Cartridge sizes:

20" × 4.5"

Designed for compatible 20-inch Big Blue / Big White whole house and high-flow filter housings.

10" × 4.5"

Designed for compatible 10-inch Big Blue / Big White whole house and high-flow filter housings.

Both versions use 5 micron nominal carbon block filtration.

The manufacturer's CTO range is designed to fit industry-standard 10-inch and 20-inch open-sump housings. 

The Matrikx CTO Carbon Block Filter Cartridge has a 5 micron nominal filtration rating.

This helps reduce particulate matter such as:

• Sand

• Rust

• Sediment

while the activated carbon media simultaneously targets chlorine, chloramine, PFAS, taste, odour and selected chemical contaminants.

A nominal micron rating indicates the approximate particle size that the majority of particles will not pass through. The manufacturer defines its nominal rating as retaining more than 85% of particles of the stated size. 

The Matrikx CTO range uses high-performance carbon technology designed to provide strong chlorine and chloramine reduction.

According to the manufacturer's performance information, PFAS reduction results depend on factors including incoming water quality, flow rate, system design and application.

The manufacturer's published test information reports estimated PFAS reduction above 95% under its stated test conditions. Actual results may vary in real-world installations.

The Matrikx CTO Carbon Block Filter Cartridge can be used in Stage 2 or Stage 3 of a compatible multi-stage whole house filtration system.

Stage 2

When installed after a sediment filter, the Matrikx CTO can provide carbon filtration targeting chlorine, chloramine, taste, odour, PFAS and selected chemical contaminants.

Stage 3

When installed as the final stage, it can provide additional carbon filtration and water polishing before the water travels throughout the property.

The correct filter position depends on your overall system configuration and incoming water quality.

The Matrikx CTO Carbon Block Filter Cartridge is suitable for compatible Big Blue / Big White whole house and high-flow filtration housings.

*Performance depends on incoming water quality, flow rate, system design and application. The manufacturer states that the contaminants reduced by the cartridge may not necessarily be present in every water supply. 

The Matrikx CTO can help improve water used throughout compatible residential and light-commercial properties, including water for:

• General household or workplace use

For tank, bore or other non-municipal supplies, the appropriate treatment setup should be selected according to the specific water quality.

MATRIKX specifies that its carbon filters should only be used with microbiologically safe and adequately disinfected water. 

The Matrikx CTO Carbon Block Filter Cartridge should be replaced every 12 months to help maintain water quality, flow and overall filtration performance.

Actual filter life can vary depending on the individual installation and water conditions.

Factors that can affect cartridge life include:

• Incoming water quality

• Chlorine and chloramine concentration

• PFAS concentration

• Sediment levels

• Water usage

• Flow rate

• Cartridge size
